When it comes to losing weight, you have two choices:

1) Go to the gym and exercise for at least 60 minutes each day

2) Go on a Diet and suffer through another agonizing diet

So, which one do you choose?

Answer: NEITHER!

Both dieting and exercise are both poor choices when it comes to losing weight.

Why is that?

Let’s talk about exercise first.

Exercise is mandatory if you would like to improve your cardiovascular capacity, increase muscle size, and improve your mental state, but it has nothing to do with actually losing body fat.

This is because when we are exercising you are using glucose as energy to fuel your workouts.

For example, let’s say you ate an apple 30 minutes before you workout. (Which has been recommended to do for years by dietitians and other nutritional professionals)

That apple will get broken down into glucose, which will be used to fuel your workouts.

In fact, the majority of your food that you eat throughout the day can be used to fuel your workouts.

In order for you to use your body fat to fuel your workouts you would need to exercise for two hours straight each time you go to the gym!

Hardly realistic for someone like yourself who has a super busy schedule and other responsibilities to take care of.

Your body has energy that is stored in the muscles and liver, and only when those energy stores are depleted will the body start accessing its own body fat stores.

This is why it feels like you can exercise every day and not see any progress at the end of the week.

So, exercise, even though it is amazing for the body, is not an efficient vehicle for your body to tap into its own body fat for energy.

What about going on a diet?

Let’s explore this option…

Dieting implies that you are lowering your calories in order for your body to use its own body fat for energy.

What ends up happening when you go on a diet?

In response to the lower caloric intake, the body will drive down the chemical reactions of the body, which includes fat-burning.

In fact, when the body senses that there is a lack of glucose, dietary fats, and amino acids in the blood stream, it will dramatically increase production of a powerful hormone called Ghrelin.

Ghrelin’s job is to travel to your brain and signal you to look for food!

And no matter how strong your willpower is, Ghrelin will ALWAYS win!

Because biology trumps willpower every single time.

Eventually you will be driven to eat food to compensate for the lack of nourishment that your body is getting.

And usually, these foods are HORRIBLE for the body, driving up your fat-storing hormones, causing the body to quickly store the foods that you just ate as body fat.

So going on a typical “diet” will backfire because you’re working against your body’s natural biology.

This always leads to hunger, cravings and eventually you will break the diet and go back to your old ways of eating.

So, if dieting is an outdated model that works against the body and exercise doesn’t work to get rid of your beer belly, then what does?

Answer: Biohacking!
